Bob’s Story
Bob is admitted to practice in North Carolina and New York, as well as the United States District Court for all Districts of North Carolina and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. The majority of his career has been spent in the court room as a trial lawyer defending the insureds of several major property and casualty insurance carriers in middle and western North Carolina. He has tried numerous cases throughout North Carolina in state and federal courts.
Bob’s legal career started right here in North Carolina in 1993. A native of Smithtown, New York, he is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served on active duty from 1983 – 1987 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from State University of New York, College at Oneonta. While on active duty, he earned a Master of Arts degree which eventually led to a brief career as an aircraft computer and data support analyst with a major aviation company.
It was during that time that Bob began attending law school at night at Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and completed his Juris Doctorate in 1992. The first three years of his legal career were spent with a small criminal defense firm. Through a friendship with another local attorney, he moved into insurance defense where he would spend the next twenty years working for companies like Nationwide Insurance as claims legal counsel, and Royal and Sun Alliance in their Office of General Counsel.
Bob lives in Charlotte with his wife of more than thirty years. They are proud of their two grown children who are both successful in their respective careers. Away from the office he enjoys golf. That’s not to say he’s necessarily very good at it and he often wonders why he continues to play the game. An active member of the Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club, Bob also enjoys trap shooting as well as reading, fixing other people’s computers and is always eager to learn a new skill.
